Dr Pixie McKenna

MB BCH BAO DCH DRCOG MRCGP DPD

General Practitioner

Dr Pixie McKenna hails from Cork, Ireland, where she graduated from medical school in 1995. The third generation of doctors in her family, she followed in her father’s footsteps into general practice, completing her GP training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in 1999.

She holds postgraduate qualifications in General Practice, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dermatology, and Paediatrics, and has worked in private general practice for almost three decades. During this time, she has cared for individuals, families, and corporate clients, earning a reputation for being pragmatic, unflappable, and approachable. Dr Pixie leaves no stone unturned when it comes to understanding and addressing her patients’ health concerns.

Her key interests lie in the “whole” patient. She particularly enjoys health screening, women’s health, complex cases and day-to-day general practice. She strongly believes that reassurance is one of the most powerful therapeutic tools in medicine and ensures that every patient feels heard, supported, and on the right path to better health.

Outside of her GP work, Dr Pixie is best known as the on-screen doctor in Channel 4’s BAFTA-winning series Embarrassing Bodies, which has aired in more than 50 countries worldwide. She is also a published author and long-standing media contributor, promoting open and honest conversations about health for over two decades.
